1. Inspiration for this product.
Although we often think of beetles as garden pests or garden protectors, many cultures use parts of dazzling, colorful beetles as ornamentation for ceremonial costumes and headdresses, as well as in precious jewelry.
Just as structural color is responsible for the beautiful shimmering blue of neotropical Morpho butterflies, it is also responsible for the glistening iridescent colors of many tropical beetles.
The epicuticle, or outermost surface, of iridescent beetles, is made of many stacks of slanting, plate-like layers, which are oriented in different directions. These layers bend and then reflect the incoming light like the ridges of iridescent butterfly and moth scales. Similarly, they produce structural colors by interference in the same way as butterfly wings. A layer of pigment below the refractive plates of beetles and the ridges of iridescent butterfly scale enhances the effect of the luminescence. In some species, the epicuticle acts as a reflection diffraction grating to cause iridescence.
Most insect structural colors are in the green-blue-violet range, but red, gold, and copper colors may also be produced in this way. The shade of color and its intensity are determined by several factors, including the thickness and spacing of the layers of the scales, or epicuticle, the number of these layers, and the angle of the incoming light.

Choose thin thickness and flat models. In theory, if the printing you want is more flat with thinner thickness, the metal color effect can color the whole surface. So we can try to print some mask, coins, shield, sword and so on .
What applications can we apply with this resin?
It is fit for some art design shows. Print-assembled models are a good choice, with different colors mixed together, you can get incredible group effects.
Is Metalic structural color resin easy to print?
Yes, it is one of the standard resins which has high hardness and good detail performance.

Tips Before Printing
Metallic resin is a structure color change resin. It will change the color when you look at the model from different angles. So you need to keep the surface you want to be metallic parallel to the platform. Printing time for each color, because the shading degree of each color pigment is different, the printing time is a little different.
Regarding the lift distance for the bottom, we recommend higher-than-normal resin at least 12mm. Also, the lift distance for printing we recommend is 10mm to avoid falling down issues.
1. Roll the bottle sightly t before pouring the resin into the VAT. Because the metallic resin is mixed with special pigment, it is more easily to have pigment sediment if left for a long time.
2. Also when you have constant several-time printing, you need to stir the resin in the VAT with a plastic scraper
